Rit DyeMore for Synthetics - Liquid 7fl oz - SAND STONE

  • Rit DyeMore for Synthetics - Liquid 7fl oz - SAND STONE

RIT DYE More Liquid 7fl oz - SAND STONE is an excellent choice for those who want to add  vibrant colour to their synthetic fabrics and fabric blends that contain more than 35% polyester, acrylic, acetate, or nylon. This dye is specially formulated to work on these types of fabrics, which can be difficult to dye with other products.

Just remember to follow the instructions carefully and use a stainless steel pan on the stove for best results.

When using RIT DYE MORE LIQUID DYE, it is important to remember that dyeing must take place in a stainless steel pan on the stove. This is because the high water temperature required for the dye to set properly cannot be achieved in a washing machine.

NOT TO BE USED IN A WASHING MACHINE

Using a washing machine can also cause uneven dyeing or even damage to the fabric.

Dyeing instruction

The process of dyeing with RIT DYE MORE LIQUID DYE is relatively simple. First, thoroughly clean the fabric you wish to dye to remove any dirt, stains, or finishes that may interfere with the dye's absorption. Next, mix the dye with hot water and stir until fully dissolved. Then, add the fabric to the dye bath and stir constantly for 30-60 minutes until the desired colour is achieved.

When preparing to dye any item, whether it's jeans or curtains, the initial crucial step is selecting the appropriate dye for the fabric or material. Ensure to refer to the care label to determine the fibre content of the item you're dyeing.

RIt DyeMore is a specialized dye, formulated specifically for synthetic fibres like polyester, acrylic, acetate, and nylon. If your garment comprises more than 35% synthetic fibres, this dye is the perfect choice. However, if the garment contains less than 35% synthetic fibres, consider using Rit All-Purpose Dye instead for optimal results.

Stovetop Method

To effectively dye synthetic materials, it's essential to utilize the stovetop method, ensuring the dyeing process maintains a near-boiling temperature throughout (93°C or higher). Consequently: (1) items must be small enough to fit into a stove pot, and (2) using a washing machine is not suitable as it cannot reach the required water temperature for Rit DyeMore to properly penetrate the fabric.

Colour

When dyeing a garment that is white or off-white, achieving true colour is typically feasible. However, if the garment already has a colour, your sole choice is to over-dye it with a darker shade. Regrettably, Rit Color Remover is unlikely to be effective on synthetic fabrics.

Patterns and Logos

When dyeing a garment with a pattern or logo, the dye colour will blend with the existing colours on the fabric, resulting in the creation of new colours.

Bleaching Stains and Sun Damage

Sunlight and bleach can harm fabric, significantly complicating the dyeing process. Consequently, we cannot assure that dyeing will effectively conceal such stains.

Dyeing Procedure

  1. Select Dye Type - DyeMore Synthetics
  2. Select Material type- Synthetic fabric, Polyester Acrylics, or Acetate

Determining Dye Quantity:
To calculate the amount of dye needed, weigh the item to be dyed on a food scale or estimate its weight. Generally, one bottle of Rit DyeMore can dye up to two pounds of dry fabric. For 100% polyester or vibrant colour, consider doubling the dye quantity.

Testing and Preparing Fabric:
Consider the fibre content and weight of the fabric as they influence the colour outcome. When uncertain about dye acceptance or desired colour, perform a swatch test. Before dyeing, remove visible stains from the garment and pre-wash it in warm, soapy water without fabric softener to eliminate any finishes hindering dye absorption.

Workspace Preparation:
Cover the stove area with a plastic table cover or newspaper and keep paper towels handy to manage potential spills.

Protective Measures:
Wear rubber gloves to prevent staining and provide insulation against hot water during the dyeing process.

Stovetop Dyeing Method:
Due to the intricate nature of dyeing synthetics, employ the stovetop method to maintain an almost boiling temperature (200ºF / 93ºC or higher) throughout the process.

Dyeing Process:
Fill a stainless steel pot with enough water for fabric movement, recommending three gallons of water for every pound of fabric. Add a teaspoon (5 mL) of dish detergent to ensure even dyeing.

- Heat the water on the stovetop just below boiling.
- Once simmering, add the well-shaken dye and mix thoroughly.
- Wet the item to be dyed and immerse it in the dyebath.
- Maintain a low simmer, stirring slowly and continuously, especially during the critical first 10 minutes.
- The item can remain in the dyebath for 10 minutes to an hour, adjusting based on fabric type for optimal colour absorption.

Final Steps:
- Remove the fabric from the dyebath when the desired colour is achieved, bearing in mind that the fabric will appear darker when wet.
- Squeeze out excess dye and rinse in warm water until the rinse water runs clear.
- Wash the fabric in warm water with mild detergent and dry accordingly.

For Blended Fabrics:
If dyeing blends containing cotton, linen, rayon, or ramie, apply Rit Colour-Stay Dye Fixative immediately after dyeing to enhance colour and minimize bleeding.
